Throughout this post, I am going to present the work and research that I needed in order to complete a clay portrait.

First, I did some research about human anatomy and the human face. The book that helped me the most was definitely 'Drawing: A Complete Guide' (2018) by Giovanni Civardi. Unexpectedly drawing is going to be a very important part of making a physical tridimensional portrait. You need to acquire knowledge about the human face, the distance and measurements hidden behind every face. For this I made several sketchs from live models and photos.

Is important to study the human face from different angles.

Next, I study and draw my colleague, the model for my final work.

One of the most important aspects of the human being is our ability to show emotions through facial expressions.

Here are some of my work on expressions.

After the research and work, is now time to plan the interior structure. This structure is built to make sure that the clay doesn't break due to his weight.

Now is finally time to pick up the clay.

Here is some photos of my progress
